DFM Receives Accolades for Exceptional Response to Winter Storm
February 26, 2011VAN BUREN TOWNSHIP – Devon Facility Management, a facility management service provider, received accolades from Craig Medlen of Visteon's facilities and operations team, for the innovative and timely snow removal after near record winter storms.
Working from around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday through Wednesday evening, crews in plows and front end loaders stayed ahead of the snow. Although the area did not get quite as much snow as predicted, windows of 30-45 mph kept blowing already-plowed snow back onto the pavement. "They did a great job," Medlen said of snow removal crews subcontracted by Devon Facilities Management, which were scheduled well in advance of the storm. "They stayed on top of it."
As the total site facility management and services integrator, DFM worked together with their snow and grounds contractor to develop a site snow removal management plan. The site plan allows for visual recognition of critical “hot spots” that must be given priority during each snow event. Emergency and snow evacuation routes and associated shift management are utilized to ensure a safe environment for all tenants.
DFM manages the 900,000 square ft. multi-tenant GLCC facility.
